Salmon, green beans and rice with a garlic-chilli-lemon sauce

Today's dinner worked surprisingly well! Salmon fillets with rice and remaining green beans, with a chilli-garlic-lemon butter sauce (based, more or less, on this recipe - except with more garlic, and cayenne pepper instead of hot sauce.)

I think I shall make this again one day, it was lovely.

In which I am domestic.

Domestic Me made lamb chops with rosemary roasted potatoes and aubergine last night. It was yummy.

Dinner

Domestic Me has also hoovered and taken out the rubbish and the recycling, and is getting up the courage to clean the kitchen.

Domestic Me is deeply irritating, since she hides and is lazy, except for brief periods of time when she just. won't. stop. housework.

Normal Me is off to do yoga and play with metal. I'm making an 11-column steel bracelet for a customer - work in progress photos are here, if you're bored.

Excitement in the skies

I looked out of my window doing the washing up this morning to see an airplane flying at me. Then another. And then a third. Quite unnerving - they were flying really, really low, just skimming the top of the houses. They were securite civile airplanes, bright yellow with red writing on, and Wikipedia tells me they are planes used to fight fires in the summer - they fly down to the water, scoop it up, fly off and dump it on the fire. Today they were practising, so it must be nearly summer. A little disconcerting nonetheless.

Crap pics from my mobile, because my proper camera doesn't have any batteries:

While I'm thinking of photos, this was last night's dinner - summer really does feel like it's nearly here:

Oh, and you're all back as far as Google Analytics is concerned. Which is nice - hello, my loyal and clearly slightly disturbed readers ;-) One day, soon, I'm going to do a post that invites you all to introduce yourselves - I'd like to know who I'm writing to!

Dinner

Photo stolen from Paul from last time we ate this:

Duck breast in a honey and thyme sauce

Duck breast in a honey and thyme sauce and fried potato thingies is wonderful. Cheap wine that happens to be nice makes it even better, as does French bread. Free limoncello at the end of the meal because the staff are nice like that makes it perfect.

Dinner

Dinner tonight was simple (though I'm now craving Christmas dinner and chocolate pudding, thanks to an email I read earlier) - we had pasta with organic cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, goats cheese and olive oil. I'm a big fan of meals that take 10 minutes start to finish - though our dinner would perhaps have been even nicer with some balsamic vinegar and black pepper. Being able to eat it on our new table out on our terrasse is nice though, definitely helps food taste nicer, I'm sure!

Lying on the beach reading my textbook (why yes, I am a blast at parties, you can tell) this afternoon, escaping the-hell-that-is-Lexis Nexis, inspiration nearly struck. So rather than nothing, I've written 500 words today. It's not great, but it's better than it was looking this afternoon... I'll write extra tomorrow. I'm aiming to get 7000 words done by Sunday, so I'm on the way, slowly...
