Bleh

My throat hurts, my whole body aches and I can't keep my eyes open for more than about ten mins at a time. Today is not going to be a productive day, I can tell already.

Mosquitos

Death-deserving blood-sucking bastards. Should they all die, in one fell swoop, I would cheer. I itch, I have huge hot red welts on my legs, and did I mention how much I itch? I hate mosquitos. With my luck, I will have caught dengue fever, too.

Today has been a rubbish day. It started off well, if a little early - I woke up at 4:30, but when I got up, the sun was rising, everyone was asleep, I had coffee in peace.

Since then, the football has happened. That was noisy. I've slit my thumb on wire and my toe has a huge bleedy hole in it where I dropped a saucepan lid while doing the washing up. Who knew a blunt saucepan lid could do so much damage?

Because of all that, I missed the parachutists and the Patrouille de France flying in Nice. Which I'm pissed off about. On the plus side, though, I'm not on this train:

It's parked outside our window, as is the one heading in the other direction. Fire engines are sounding their sirens, but I've no idea how they plan to get to the train line. It's nowhere near a (real) road.

I had considered going to the fireworks this evening in Nice, I like fireworks. But given the way today has gone so far, I'm going to take this fire as a sign not to even leave the house today. I'm bound to get run over by a police car or something, if I do.

General bleh; running good.

Soaked and cold. Running today was much better than Day 1, since this podcast has vocal cues in it, telling you when to run, which make the whole thing much less hassle.

Saw two tourists looking very lost outside my front door - they were looking for a cheap cafe. Round here, that's not so easy to find, but I was nice and directed them to a couple of the slightly less touristy places, which might charge a reasonable amount. Then again, they might not...

Wedding invitations going mad. Family going mad over wedding. Considering telling everyone it's cancelled and starting from scratch. Am looking forward to being married, can't help but think wedding day is going to be psychotic mess, as is usually the case when you get this many people in one place with alcohol, when some of them are related to me.

Going to have a shower, put the heating on and go back to bed. Maybe next time I wake up, the day will be better.

Today. Bleh.

Today has been a long day of running around achieving nothing.

The ultrasound I had earlier didn't find anything, so it's anyone's guess as to what's wrong with me. My throat's still sore, and the antibiotics, which normally kill anything for me in a matter of hours, don't seem to have helped much. I'm still randomly freezing to death, regardless of whether the heating is on or not - temperatures of 34 degrees are not normal, self, sort it the fuck out.

The securite sociale people can't help me - I just have to wait for my paperwork to go through the system before I can get my healthcare money back. In the meantime, I have no alternative but to pay up front and claim it back at the end, when/if I get a number. At some point in the next 3 months, it ought to come through, apparently. Clockwork, it isn't.

Let's hope I don't need a hospital visit before then, or anything...

I'm tired and I'm broke and I'm fed up of stupid bureaucratic systems that do nothing but get in the way. And I'm more tolerant of bureaucracy than most, all things considered, so they really are cocking things up. Hate them.

Ill. Bleh. Whingey post bemoaning French bureaucracy.

Well, the title kind of says it all, really. I'm ill. Doctors cost money, which is reimbursed if you have a social security number, or an EHIC card if you're not resident in France, or an E106 if you're resident in France but not working. I have none of these things, because the French administrative system hasn't allocated me a social security number yet, but because I've registered as self-employed and thus started the process, the other things are demonstrably not applicable.

Hate them. Hate being ill. Want to be fixed and better. Bleh.
