French wedding vows...

Do they make them? Do we have to make them? Are they pre-set, or do we need to make our own? Anyone who's ever been to a French wedding (or had one!) please do let me know what to expect here...

As a reward, I'll give you a personalised M&M if we end up buying them. (I'm pushing hard for this, don't you all want personalised M&Ms with my name and his name and "On se marie!" on them? Go on, you know you do...)

Flowers are more important than personalized M&Ms!

it is!! despite that personalised M&Ms are a good idea! Fran x

I can see both sides of this argument....

I expect the nice ladies at the Mairee will be able to help on this question of vows, though.

Of course, they will probably laugh again (the nice English girl who couldn't remember what date she booked now does't know what she will have to do on that day!)

Yeah, the problem with asking the nice ladies at the mairie is that they don't quite understand the depths of my ignorance here. I have tried this before.

Maybe now I've shown that really, I don't even know when it's happening, let alone what's supposed to be happening, they might take it more seriously.

A friend of ours is going to a French wedding next month; he's promised to take notes...

I hope it's a civil wedding he's going to. If it's a church, they probably still do the whole ceremony in Latin! That would, at least, be different!

All weddings in France have to be civil ceremonies. They can be followed by church ceremonies if you like, but the civil ceremony is the only bit that counts and is compulsory - and, being France, hopefully identical to all others!
